Christians: Is it Wrong to sing along to Jesus of Suburbia by Green Day?
I was just wondering…when I got the album American Idiot and learned the words to all the songs by hearing them over and over I would sing along to Jesus of Suburbia. But then I realized what I was singing and I wasn’t sure if it was wrong to sing along to it or not, so I stopped singing the Jesus of Suburbia part (for anyone who doesn’t know the song is all together but transissions a few times).
And also, while I’m asking, there are some Fall Out Boy lyrics I’m not sure of either. They’re from their song Sugar, We’re Going Down. They go ‘I’ll be your number one with a bullet, a loaded G/god complex cock it and pull it’ is it wrong to sing that? Because of the way the term G/god is used?
no, its not wrong, as long as you like the song and doesn’t have a dark meaning of singing the song in your heart.
and for the fall out boy part…..im a HUGE fan and i just LOVE any questions related to it. its okay to sing that part, again, its just a song and ask yourself this: does “a loaded god complex cock it and pull it” even make sence? nope! don’t think so! just because the word “God” is used in there, doesn’t mean that Christians are forbidden to sing that song. its a REALLY famous song, and think about it. at a rock concert, everyone sings along, and they must have a HUGE crowd, and don’t you think a fraction of those fans are Christians?
