What does it mean when someone says Jesus “was the LOGOS” but he is now a human being for all eternity?
I am asking this because someone gave this as an answer to a question I just asked and I am wondering if other people know about it? http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=Agbc_DHVciPyPJ84pWLdmUzsy6IX;_ylv=3?qid=20071116023707AAsltri
Has anyone heard of this before or have any scripture that explains this?
It is correct to call Jesus the Word (Logos) but to say he remains human is in error. He has returned to the Father and is restored to his position of glory at the right hand of the Father. We have a barrier to our understanding that does not necessarily apply to God. It is called time.
There is a little recognized key that may be helpful in understanding some passages, such as that cited in Hebrews. Christ Jesus is the Creator who came to us. Jesus Christ is the Son who finished his work here and returned to the Father. He emptied himself of his own Divine right to come to us, refraining from using that right in his interaction with us, defering to the Father as he expected us to do. (Remember the disciple who called him “my Lord, and my God”?) Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow. His work with us is finished and he is in his full glory.

Jesus Christ, Sun of God $18.95 The early Christian Gnosis did not spring up in isolation, but drew upon earlier sources. In this book, many of these sources are revealed for the first time. Special emphasis is placed on the Hellenistic doctrine of the Solar Logos and the early Christian symbolism which depicted Christ as the Spiritual Sun, the illumination source of order, harmony, and spiritual insight. Based on 15 years of research, this is a unique book which throws a penetrating light on the secret traditions of early Christianity. It clearly demonstrates that number is at the heart of being. Jesus Christ, Sun of God, illustrates how the Christian symbolism of the Spiritual Sun is derived from numerical symbolism of the ancient divinities. |

Justin/Time $0.64 Camila Hidalgo, a White House spokesperson, wants her ex-husband, Trent Calloway to investigate Justin Logos, a controversial New Age cult leader. But Calloway, a former psychic spy who is trying to live a quiet life in the Southwest, thinks there’s no reason for the government to intrude in Logos’s life. So he and his colleague Doc refuse to use their special talent — the ability to psychically see events occurring elsewhere. But when a lethal virus is released in Washington, D.C., Calloway pinpoints its source to followers of Logos, a man proclaimed by some as the reincarnation of Jesus Christ and called the Antichrist by others. Now Calloway, exposed to the virus and facing his own death, must extend his abilities into a new realm. |

New Testament Interpretation Through Rhetorical Criticism $24.95 New Testament Interpretation through Rhetorical Criticism provides readers of the Bible with an important tool for understanding the Scriptures. Based on the theory and practice of Greek rhetoric in the New Testament, George Kennedy’s approach acknowledges that New Testament writers wrote to persuade an audience of the truth of their messages. These writers employed rhetorical conventions that were widely known and imitated in the society of the times. Sometimes confirming but often challenging common interpretations of texts, this is the first systematic study of the rhetorical composition of the New Testament. As a complement to form criticism, historical criticism, and other methods of biblical analysis, rhetorical criticism focuses on the text as we have it and seeks to discover the basis of its powerful appeal and the intent of its authors. Kennedy shows that biblical writers employed both external modes of persuasion, such as scriptural authority, the evidence of miracles, and the testimony of witnesses, and internal methods, such as ethos (authority and character of the speaker), pathos (emotional appeal to the audience), and logos (deductive and inductive argument in the text). In the opening chapter Kennedy presents a survey of how rhetoric was taught in the New Testament period and outlines a rigorous method of rhetorical criticism that involves a series of steps. He provides in succeeding chapters examples of rhetorical analysis, looking closely at the Sermon on the Mount, the Sermon on the Plain, Jesus’ farewell to the disciples in John’s Gospel, the distinctive rhetoric of Jesus, the speeches in Acts, and the approach of Saint Paul in Second Corinthians, Thessalonians, Galatians, and Romans. |
