How many times was Jesus Christ beaten before he was crucified?
I’ve heard that the rule of thumb for the people doing the beatings was that 40 strikes would kill a man, and that they ordered for Jesus to have 41 strikes. If possible, can someone give me scriptural evidence?
The British were whipping their defaulters right up until the mid 19th century. They would literally whip the skin off their backs which in that time of no knowledge of bacteria was a death sentence, death by flaying.
